day 1 wrap-up

What a day. The campaigns were launched with a fury; between checking the Facebook app to look for interesting demographics and trying to get through the video bios and campaign websites, you can spend a lot of time trying to get informed. Let's see what happened today.- Debutantorski's poster inspired a brief discussion that includes parodies of Miguel de Cervantes and Karl Marx. He promises us more detailed solutions will come. (All of the other posters are up here as well.)
- Jones' campaign slogan this year is "VAJ: Your Internal Choice". Initial feedback: What the hell was she thinking?
- The Facebook Application is, at the moment, basically a poll of those currently involved with the DSU, and is really only a useful barometer of that segment of support. Nonetheless, based on the 80 people using it:
- Larkin and Gault are basically tied, with very similar demographics.
- Boyle and Jones are splitting the vote 50-50, but while Jones has an even amount of support among men and women, Boyle's support comes mostly from men.
- Kris and Krista also each get 66% of their support from their own gender.
- Eric Snow seems to have a good grip on 50% of the support, with the other 4 candidates splitting up the remainder. He's not as popular with the ladies, though, despite the goatee.
- ... yeah, that's all I've got.

Re: VAJ, look on the bright side, at least she made the (marginally) better choice between that and "VAJ - Your Choice For Internal"
Other rejected choices include "VAJ: It's Short For Vagina, Get It?" and the ever popular "Only Homos Don't Like VAJ. You're Not Queer, Are You Boy?"
Next up on the playlist:
"VAJ: Seriously You Guys, There's More To Me Than Just A Played Out Joke About My Name. You Guys? Hello?"

Hm. While only 25% are females, over 70% of my supporters are in relationships. So, while I may not have the support of women, I have the support of men who are...good with women?
In all seriousness, I'd be interested in seeing the statistics for everyone using the application. Is it predominantly male? The only Senate candidate with 50% support from women, at the time of this post, is Kaylyn Fraser, while everyone else is worse.

Why am I not surprised Eric is doing better with men than women?

A note on the VP Internal websites:
Platforms:
Boyle - 2880 words, measured, considered
Jones - 675 words, mostly about rebuilding bathrooms, putting people in tiger suits, and doing what is already being done.
Also - worst website ever.
