Shad Valley, Day 2
|
Jul 5th, 2005 at 01:02am |
Day 2. There's another camp here, called EXPLORE, with 230 students. This morning for breakfast, all 230 of them were in front of me in line in the cafeteria. Lunch and dinner were ok for me, but I noticed a large lineup. They are taking steps to deal with it, so hopefully that problem is solved soon.
We have sign language interpreters with us for most of the day, and watching them is very interesting. Sign language is really a whole-body thing, not just the hands. It is also closer to dancing than talking in many ways. I enjoy it.
Today everyone was introduced to this year's project, and the group they will be working with for much of the month. They started the day by roaming the campus answering questions and finding things as an orienteering challenge. Lectures start for real tomorrow morning, and we expect that to be very interesting.
